South African artist Ledelle Moe created *Collapse I* in the year 2000. The sprawling sculpture measures approximately 30 feet long. Giving *Collapse I* its shape is a steel mesh armature made from rebar. Each portion of the steel frame was filled with concrete to build the outer wall of the sculpture. This means *Collapse I* is hollow inside.
The sculpture is here on loan courtesy of the artist, who was on site for the sculpture’s arrival and played an active role in its installation. The sculpture was delivered in three pieces, and Moe did a good portion of the assembly herself.
